3D ANIMATION STUDIES

Getting Thumbnail Mountian Lakes
Study of multi-layer procedural texturing in Lightwave 6.0. This image contains only 1 image map, the bark on the pine trees. The landscape is completely generated from procedural textures and gradients. For displacement, procedural textures were used to displace a part of a disk with radial segments such that the further away the polygon is the larger it is. This kept the polygon count within renderable limits on my machine while still keeping the scale and visibility true to life. Currently the coast lines are the number one giveaway as they appear to "crater like." - Chad C. Yates 2000
